I bought a ctr 350 from here about 2 years ago or so. i used it with my wifi on my laptop for about a year. then one night I came in from work and had a phone and something else that had been hit by lightning during the strong stom.anyway when I finally went to get on the net my ctr 350 was dead. so I would assume it had also been hit by lightning as well. I tried the reset button and still nothing. Well tonight I decided I would ask my brother about it since he' has been an electronic technician for 22 years. He said that the ac plug is probably what got hit and burned up. I checked the end on the plug and sure enough, no power. So my ctr 350 might not actually be bad after all. Maybe I can just get a new ac adapter plug and use my 350 again. I want to use it with my nintendo wii... so what are the chances that only my plug got hit and the router is ok? I'm gonna order a plug and try it.

And another question, I'm using the verizon u727 usb modem and for the last couple months the modem has been shutting off and I have to remove it from my laptop and reinsert it to get it to power back up and reconnect to the net. any suggestions? hope the modem isn't tearing up too!

It is worth a try to get a 5V 2.5A AC adapter, but odds are that if the lightning took out the adapter, it most likely took out the CTR also.

As for the 727 question, last I heard, Verizon has been shutting off devices that have been connected to their network for to long. I am suprised that VZAM won't allow you to reconnect though, and that you have to physically replug the device. Was the 727 connected to the CTR when the lightning struck?

sometimes It'll let me reconnect, but usually the light on the 727 will be out and I have to unplug it and plug it back in then connect. the 727 was plugged in at the time, but that was like a year or so again when the ctr got hit so that's not the problem. It just started a month or so ago. sounds like the 727 is going bad or maybe a software problem or usb problem.....I took the ctr apart and looked for blown chips etc and it looks fine inside which doesn't necessarily mean anything but usually when something is hit there is visible physical damage, from my experience. I'm gonna try a plug soon and see if it works. Hopefully it will. thanks for the reply!!
