Will the iPhone tether to the MBR1000/800?

I just got a new 3GS and activated the tethering capabilities on it.

I just got a 1.7mbit/s dl speed in New Jersey... which is faster than my sprint cards. Also of note, is that the dslreports test on the phone would only get .8 mbit/s at most.

Then I took the phone into brooklyn where I live, and because of the congestion here I got a dismal .07mbit/s ... hopefully with all the money they are making AT&T will upgrade their towers in NYC soon.

I also just tried to get it to tether to my MBR800 ... and no dice. It would be really nice to be able to hook it up ... assuming the speeds in NYC improve at some point.

Doesn't work. We planted the idea to support iPhone tethering last week.
