Currently I have the 50051 PRL(UM150 usb modem) with Alltel and it is using a verizon tower which is a few miles from me as the crow flies. When doing a tracert to google.com it shows it going to verizon and then around 3 hops through alltel and then making it through to google. My question is when Verizon fully takes over is the Alltel still going to be in the tracert because that knocks up my pings times quite a bit compared to just going through Verizon?

I would have to say they would keep it in place. I called Alltel back when they weren't owned by Verizon and brought it up with one of their head tech guys to see if they could change it but seems like all traffic will go through those first few hops which increases latency but no way around it.
Their stance on it that I got was that as long as you have internet that works and gets you to google.com....They don't care to much beyond that. They are not to gaming friendly either. |
