First off, my computer is an older Compaq Presario 6000,
with 512 RAM
Windows XP Home edition
1.2 G Athlon processor

My problem began when I purchased the Alltel USB UM175, and couldn't even get it to install until I called tech help, and we discovered I needed to uninstall my Roxio cd burner, EZ CD Creator 5.0 basic.
Now, when I try to install a burner program, and open the cd burner up, my computer simply quits responding on the shell opening. It simply does nothing, no mouse movements, etc.
Is there a recommended program I can get that will be compatible with my USB UM175 modem, and not hang up my computer?
Any help will be appreciated.

Flynn

many folks who have suffered from various incompatibility issues have found success by operating their USB modem attached to a cellular router like these: http://3gstore.com/cradlepoint

the router manages the modem's connection to the carrier, eliminating the need to always run carrier's software on your computer.

connection to the router can be done by ethernet cable or wifi.

There are several burner programs out there. Some are open source some not.

I personally use InfraRecorder but there are many more.
