Has anyone tried to get this working under Windows 7?

I checked ZTE's website for drivers but didn't see any recent updates.

Thanks, Pete

Yes, I've got it working with Windows 7 RC 7100. Originally I had incredible issues just getting it to install the drivers and what not.

All you have to do is set the compatibility mode to VISTA (Doesn't matter if SP1 or SP2) and run as an administrator for the setup.exe program. That will install without issues and load the drivers from Vista.

Afterwards, edit your short-cuts to also launch the RC program with the same compatibility mode to VISTA and administrator.

That should do the trick.

Hi Tolwyn
I wonder if you could explain what did you do to get the usb modem to work. I have instaled the software from the usb stick but when i connect the usb it trys to launch the set up program again which i cancel then i click on the short cut but the software launches but it shows no connection. Seems as if it does not see the modem or all the drivers are not installed. i have done what you posted. Kit is a Samsung NC20 running Windows 7 ref 7100 the usb stick is an orange mf 636 which works on my main pc. Many thanks.

I figured out what he meant; open the stick like a usm memeory stick and navigate to setup.exe (under the /data sub dir) Right click it and choose compatibily mode trouble shooter
Then choose the second option, noth the suggested compatility (it will choose xp sp2) choose the one below and then sselect vista (no sps). Use this mode to uninstall it (click start program in trouble shooter) . Then reinstall.. You get asked to save the compatibilty settings and restart. mine works now (wrote this blog reponse on it!)

If you've installed it unsuccessfully, uninstall everything. If the modem keeps trying to install each time you connect it, copy the files over to your HDD, remove the stick, and perform the install.

Right-Click on the setup file, and set the compatibility to Vista SP1, and run as Administrator. Once complete, plug in the modem, and that should do the trick.

Lastly, ensure that you alter the short-cut to launch using Vista SP1 compatibility and as administrator.
