Just wondering - I updated my PRL (at my current location). When I travel to another State - should I update my PRL again? Or, is a PRL update for the entire Verizon Service?
Thanks! |

A PRL is a list of System ID's (SID) indicating which service area the phone is in. When you go out of that area the phone moves down the list for the next available SID - if it is not available it goes to the next one that is available, and so on. So no, you do not need to update it unless you are moving somewhere outside your current SID permanently. _________________ evdo-tips.com |

I was right with ya until you last sentence (above). Based on your last sentence - it does matter? |

Meaning that if you have the latest PRL for your SID, you do not need to switch to another one if you are not going to be permanently located elsewhere.
If you live in NY and travel to CA the PRL you have in NY will work there and be your "home" PRL when you get back. If you move to CA, a new PRL is needed for your new "home". So there is no need to change PRL's when traveling on a temporary basis if you have the latest update.
... confused yet? _________________ evdo-tips.com |

PRL Preferred Roaming List changes on occasion, Verizon Wireless recommends a PRL update Once every 2-3 months, Roaming Agreements can be changed by the carrier at any time. I would recommend you keep it current:
For data cards open up VZ Access Manager and go to Options>Activation
Cell/PDA phones for Verizon dial *22899 |
