|
| i have the old PCMCIA air card for sprint wireless broadband made by pantech. i have to get a new notebook, which i have and they all are express slots now. i found an adapter that takes the old style down to express, but says it is not compatible and will not work with my specific air card. does anyone know of an adapter i could use for a pantech px-500 regular PCMCIA card or of a usb adapter? any ideas? |

I had this problem. I settled with buying a Dell Latitude. They still have the PCMCIA slot. I think the new E series you can choose which slot you want.
I referred to this list http://dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?p=1259634 when buying a new computer. The list is about a year old now, but there are still a few manufacturers out there that make them with the PCMCIA slots. As you can see in the link, they are mainly business class computers such as the Latitude, Panasonic toughbooks, Lenovo thinkpads, and Toshiba Tecra models.
When I ordered from Dell.com I was required to enter a name of my business, I simply made up something stupid, typed it in and the order went right through. Personally I'm happy with the purchase, the Latitude is a lot sturdier and can take more of a beating than the consumer grade machines can, and I tend to carry this thing just about everywhere. They are priced pretty much the same as the ones built for home users. |
