If your an Alltel user in Michigan, could you please post here regarding how well (or not so well) your service is, and where your location is.
Over the past few months my service has become nearly unusable, and I know some other Michigan users have had similar problems. I am mainly trying to find out if it is a certain geographical location with most the problems, or if its all over. Im in Newyago (SW Mi 49337). My typical results are REV-A .17 down .25 up with pings around 150ms and -80dbm signal. Tried different configurations antennas, PRL's, etc, and no noticeable changes. Very frustrating, and Alletel tech support has been no help at all.
Thanks |

It sucks Chuck! I am between Cadillac and Traverse City and the Alltel prl is a joke. I've been using the Verizon prl/tower since January and checking back every now and then on the Alltel side to see if it is any better but it isn't and the tech support is either playing dumb or they send a canned letter and blow you off. I hope some heads roll at Alltel when Verizon is finished with the merger.

I live in Harrison, MI (about 10 miles north of Clare). I am now on Rev-A for about a month now and am getting fairly low download speeds compared to what I see for others with Rev-A. Here is a sample from this Saturday morning's test (fairly fast in comparison to the usual for me).
Download: .74 Mb/s
Upload: .32 Mb/s
Ping: 136 ms |

| My service is terrible. I am just south of newaygo between grant and kent city and my service has gone in the dumps. Used to have good service like everyone else but now even with a -65 db I usually only get about 200 down and 250 up. My upload is usually faster than my download. And my pings average about 150ish. I am so fed up with tech support and have been thinking of canceling. I have tried the verizon prl but seem to be throttled at 500 down which I have not seen anyone mention but on mine no matter the time of day I get 500 down and 200-300 up. Us michigan users need to do something because for some reason some of us michigan users are getting the shaft from alltel. |

just ran this, check out these speeds for $60 a month. It took prob a minute to run the test because I also get these huge delays.

I am very happy also. I have been trying to boost signal. I have a tower about 1 mile from me through the trees and hills. I am feeling pretty screwed right now. I have tried a coffee can yagi and not much luck. Went around to all the rooms in the house with not much difference at all. I actually got the best signal pointed exactly away from the known tower. Go figure. I am also located between Cadillac & Mesick.
Awesome results. |

I spend the winters in Arizona and have had EVDO for the last 3 summers. The last two summers I was averaging about 1.5mb/s download speeds and 100 + upload speeds on REV 0. My card (UT 5750) has been re-activated for about a month now with REV A and I've noticed the download speeds have dropped to about 1/3 or less than what they were for the last two years. Upload speeds have increased to about .2mb/s. I'm still getting my signal from the tower between Mancelona and Kalkaska. It may be that speeds are slower because of the increased bandwidth usage of the tower near me. I've tried several PRL's including 40042, 40045, 40049, the new Alltel 40050 as well as Verizon's 51250. 40042 worked better than 40045 and 40049 but limits your tower choices if you are using your card in other parts of the state. I'm now using 51250 and haven't spent much time with 40050. Hopefully we'll get the real REV A soon.

I'm on PRL 40050 now, and I'm experiencing some very bad pings... I don't know why. I mean, the -94 dbm may have something to do with it, but usually it's like -82 or so. But it's not like -100 minus, and even so it's never *this* bad.
While the speedtest was going, the info you see in the first image is true. And I had nothing going in the background... no idea what's going on here. And I'm pretty sure it's too late to call Alltel right now. :< |

This thing will not Push the prl and is stuck on 30041 and it only has 1x and it has this thing that locks up the usbs on the computer!!!! What the hell did they do anyway??? THIS SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!
