You should have 40053 for your prl. At least try it to see if you can get even better.

This is actually pretty good for me, using an LG AX830 tethered via Bluetooth at approximately 7pm in the southwest portion of Manistee County, Michigan. Nearest tower is at least 2 miles away, and I am in a wooded area.

Reception is marginal at best (sorry I don't have exact RSSI but it is NOT optimal) and the service is often erratic, with frequent disconnects and variable speeds. Lately, the speeds have been horrible, yet I cannot risk dropping the service because I'm not served by cable or DSL.

And worst of all, Verizon will probably mess things up even more in October.

I'm thinking maybe Alltel should get called out by michigan.

I live in cedar springs and the service is horrible. We got our wireless internet in april of this year. I had a period of like 3 weeks last month where my download speeds spiked up to 100-300kbps. I didn't get disconnected either it was great. Right now i am downloading at a rate of 30-80kbps and i get disconnected every 5-10 minutes. $70 a month for this crap they call internet service. I think we should start calling the news stations and tell them michigan is getting ripped off.

It's not right we're getting charged so much just because we have no other options for internet. Especially since we are receiving such unreliable and crappy service. If i had to price the service we're getting now i would be paying $20 a month or less. Especially after having to deal with customer service agents who barely speak english. $70 i should be getting a couple megabytes per second not 30-80 kilobytes. When we had Dial-Up we got 8-14 kbps and never dropped unless the power was out or the phone lines went down.

Either they are intentionally screwing us. Or the alltel, verizon network merger has seriously messed something up. All i know is i am getting very frustrated.

What is your signal strength (Hdr rssi) with just the card and not the router? Those are some really low speeds. Also what prl are you using? Disconnect and click on the QLM box and hit Ctrl+d the enter diagsmsi in the box. Then the Field Test bar and report back on the rssi signal strenght.

That is about normal for us.

My CDMA rssi is 96 and my EVDO rssi is 90

as for PRL i have whatever came with it

right now my QLM has 3 bars last time i had it hooked up to the laptop it had a constant 4 bar signal and that was a couple months ago

about my PRL can you recommend anything for my area?

I guess this is one of the good days. I did a speed test earlier around 3AM and i got 0.22 for down and 0.17 for up

The prl should be 40055 unless you are in the area going to at&t. You could also try Verizon's latest 51567.
Your DO rssi isn't very good , you want to have a signal below -80 dbm for the best results. You may want to look into an amp or better antenna.
That test isn't too bad, probably not a whole lot better you can do than that.

I'm near West Branch, Mi and I'm almost for sure I'm going through the tower located at Morison and Sage Lake Road. I'm about 7 miles from this tower. I"m using a UM175 datacard.
