Hello,

I signed up for Alltel's Internet coverage on Nov. 23, 2007. Initially, I averaged two to three bars of connectivity. However, around March the coverage dropped to no bars, connecting on the 1x network only. Worse, the modem disconnects constantly, upward of 6 times per hour.

I still get 4 our 5 bars when in major metropolitan areas and do not suffer from any disconnects. Could my problem be due to the recent Verizon/Alltel merger? Any suggestions? My location is West Michigan, zip code 49452. Using a CDU-550.

Hi,

I just changed my prl which resulted in a two bar increase and back to EVDO coverage. I won't be charged extra if I'm using a Verizon or Sprint tower?

I also applied the DR TCP program found under EVDO
Tips. Under the tweak test, it ask what of service I am using. My choices are: isdn, dsl, cable, wireless, satellite, or fiber. Which one do I select?

Also, it ask for my advertised speed in kbits/s. What is our advertised speed?

Thanks for any help or suggestions.

First make sure you have 40049 prl, if that doesn't help you need an antenna and maybe an amp. You need to see what band you are on 850mhz or 1.9ghz. But before you go spending a lot of money check to see if you are on a Verizon/Alltel tower or roaming on a Sprint tower because you may get cut off when the merger is 100% because of different roaming agreements between Verizon/Sprint.

Don't worry about the settings, just put as follows:

TCP receive window: 65536

Mtu discovery: yes

Black hole detect: no

Selective acks: yes

Mtu can be 1492-1500

That will be about the best setup for wireless.

Max duplicates acks: 2

A whole lot of trees and leaves tend to sprout up in March...
