Just a heads up, I purchased a flexible USB connector to allow my 727 modem to stand upright on my 1000 router (to fit in a weather proof box outside) and finally got around to making a bigger box for it, don't you know my speed jumped and ping dropped by 15%.

I tested it a few times, going back to installing the elbow and without, same results....

It could be just mine is flaky but you never know, if you are using one be aware.

Ron,

Your first sentence says speed jumped and ping fell with the flex cable. Then you state with or without - same results. The post title is "Flex USB connector slows speed"

Whats the bottom line?

Sorry about that didn't finish my cup of joe this morning.

The flex connector in place made the speed fall off...

USB 727 directly into router link speed faster.

It could be just my connector, don't know, but it might be something to look out for.

This is not surprising.

If I’m interpreting your post correctly, the modem is not exactly in the same location and position when plugged directly into the router vs when you use the extension.

In my experience, moving the modem even 3 inches or just changing it’s orientation can affect the speed and/or signal quality.

In my application the position of the modem or the router doesn't make any difference because I'm using an external antenna...so any change I see is due to having the flexible USB connector in place or not.
