Hi - Sorry I don't remember who made the first card I tried. The important thing is that after trying to install it, I lost ALL functionality in the PC-MCIA slot in my Thinkpad. (Insert a working wi-fi card and it sees slot as empty; no flashing lights on card, etc.) Since that machine does not have internal wifi card, I can no longer use a wi-fi card at all there. Hours on the phone with Verizon have solved nothing.

I later tried a different card (Audiovox 5740) in a Dell Inspiron 8600 running Windows XP. It worked at first, but when the laptop went into hibernate mode, it froze up and I had to do a manual reboot, deleting the temp file on the hard drive where info is stored during hibernation (sorry for the layman non-expert explanation here). After that, the PC-MCIA slot no longer worked on that laptop either. (Insert a working wi-fi card and it sees slot as empty; no flashing lights on card etc.) Verizon was unable to help. Only after several hours of tech support did I find out that machine has had problems in the past with these cards.
