Also worth noting that the Sprint version of MiFi 2200:
| Quote: | | ... will be the first in the U.S. to support MiFi’s GPS capabilities, allowing users to take advantage of select location and mapping applications |
as is typical for verizon, the GPS capabilities of their MiFi will be disabled. |

I like that Sprint decided to keep the brushed aluminum finish of the original prototype, very nice looking device. If it gets 3-4 hours of usage on battery, that will be welcome compared to the less than 2 hours I get on my PHS300.
Any ideas if it will be able to be used on an existing grandfathered data plan and bought without a new contract at regular price? I would hate to lose my unlimited data that I currently enjoy with my Compass 597 and PHS300.
And I assume 3Gstore will be carrying these? |

we expect to sell with and without contract, but won't say anything about price until launch day (these things can change).
yes, 3Gstore will have them on launch day. |

Just made an interesting discovery...
The MiFi can be tethered to a single computer via USB, but while tethered, there is no WiFi signal broadcast.
There is also no way I can find to connect to the web admin of the router, while you are operating via USB tethered connection.
Baffling. |

Hi Alex,
I currently have a Dell notebook with an embedded Sprint EV-DO card and a Sprint EV-DO unlimited $60/month plan. My 2-year contract expires October 2009. What is required to change to this MiFi device (software installation, setup, etc.) and can I keep my unlimited Sprint plan?
TIA |

first you need to buy the Sprint MiFi "outright" with no contract at 3gstore.com
then, you need to contact sprint and do an "ESN swap" from embedded device to the new MiFi. |

Thanks, Alex. Will they allow me to keep my current unlimited plan? Unless I am missing something, Sprint's available plans for the MiFi 2200 are limited to a certain number of GB transfer? |

if you were to get a new MiFi with a new contract, OR upgrade to a MiFi and extending your existing contract -- then there would be overage charges.
what i described is you switching devices on an *existing* contract that is not currently subjected to overage charges. |

I have the Sprint Unlimited and had an Ovation U727 that died. The store gave me a MiFi to try. Have been testing trying to decide and have run into a problem I can't resolve.
We connect to a Dynamic DNS website for our company security camera's. It runs thru sbcglobal and doesn't have a static IP. We were doing fine accessing from home unti the MIFi but can't connect with the MiFi. To double check I went to neighbors land based system and it worked so I know it is the Mi Fi,\
Anyone got any ideas how to make it work??? _________________ sd2131 |
