what 'services' are needed ?

Ok, say yer dealing with a longtime 'security geek'.

XP was installed with the minimum components. Things for networking were either not installed,or were turned off/removed from the installation. (Dialup is all that has been used.)

Many of the 'services' (Under 'administrative tools', in the control panel), were turned off, disabled.

Can someone give me a list of all the networking and other services that have to be installed for a troublefree usb modem/ctr router experience.

And under 'services'... What services MUST be turned on, for the same purpose ?

You can begin with:

Start> Control Panel> Add or Remove Programs> click on Add/Remove Windows Components on sidebar

Enable:
Management and Monitoring tools
Networking Services
Other Network file and Print Services

Do I really need the 'network file and print services for anything besides sharing files and printer ? (I don't do either.)
