| My firmware is dated JUNE 27 2008...recently I started getting dis-connects of the modem...un-plug it...VZA finds it and initalizes...5-10 minutes later same thing...same problem on 3 different comps....message says HW or SW failure....it seemed to be getting hot so I now have it placed on an ice pak...seems like that helped as I havnt seen the problem for about an hour...:>) |

Hmmm, I don't know the firmware versions by dates. For the Novatel 720, there are firmware versions from 128 to at least 147, but each one seems to be carrier specific. I know that VZW had 134 (Oct. 2006 date), 141 (unknown date), and at least one higher version, maybe 147 (unknown date). Please check to see if the software says something like RAPTOR_VZW-134, where the 134 is probably 14X on yours. Is it 141, or higher? Do you use a recent version of VZAM, and, if so, does it ever prompt you to update firmware? I have no idea what the differences are. I have read some accounts of Sprint u720 users who cured some disconnect problems by updating firmware from a middle version to the latest version, but don't recall reading anything similar about VZW usb720 users. My current usb720 has the early 134 firmware, and that seems to work fine for me. _________________ AC595, WRT54G3G

Wow, that's the newest I've heard of. Just confirmed that VZW is 134, 141, 147, and now 156. If you're having disconnects that really are related to firmware, I'm sure it's possible to backdate, but unfortunately not as easy (or automatic) as updating. I'd be happy to copy my very stable 134 for you if I can figure out how (and yes, it is EVDO REV A).
EDIT: Do you already have the latest PRL? Probably 513XX?
EDIT2: Have VZW-134 firmware file, but can't seem to upload/post it here. _________________ AC595, WRT54G3G |
