Near the bottom of a recent verizon press release for the MiFi 2200, it lists the following data plan options:
Quote:
  • $39.99 monthly access for 250 MB monthly allowance and 10 cents per megabyte overage
  • $59.99 monthly access for 5 GB monthly allowance and 5 cents per megabyte overage

Those two plans are different than current verizon mobile broadband plans, seen in this screengrab taken minutes ago:

In case you aren't seeing the difference, the $39.99/mo plan increases the allowed monthly usage from a ridiculous 50MB to a larger (but still paltry) 250MB, and reduced the overage charge from 25cents/MB to 10cents/MB.

In addition to the changes on the lower cost plan, the overage charge for the $59.99/mo plan that allows for 5GB of data per month has dropped from 25cents/MB all the way down to 5cents/MB -- which is exactly what rival Sprint has been charging ever since they started data plan overage charges in November, 2008.

The question we wonder today is, are the plans from yesterday's press release going to be "MiFi specific"? ... or are they going to be the plans made available to all mobile broadband devices like the current USB760, starting on May 17, 2009.

We won't know until after the MiFi 2200 officially launches.
