I'll believe it when I see it.
By '06, WiMAX should be in full swing, so the Rev A announcement could be propaganda to deter these folks. Or it may make them work harder. We'll have to wait and see. |

Any word on whether any of the existing PC Cards might be upgradable to Rev A? _________________ Thomas M. Goethe |

Here is the exact word from Sierra Wireless:

Any guess as to rate changes with Rev. A? Do you think Rev. A be more expensive?
(I got a 20% discount via my employer on EVDO with Verizon. I guess that is one advantage to a big company. You may want to investigate if existing corporate discount plans extend to EVDO!) |

I cannot see EVDO prices going anywhere but down over time.
When EVDO Rev A is rolled out, whatever the current unlimited pricing, I would guess that would be the same for EVDO Rev A. It will give Verizon/Sprint the chance to sell us another PC Card and lock us in for another contract term. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

I hope your right about the pricing Michael. I will be one of those standing in line for the new card and service contract, gladly.

thefeature.com seems to not be responding at the moment.
I am reading the subject of the thread correctly? Rev A has faster upload speed than download speed?

Does seem to be broken at the moment. You can find more information on Rev A here too: http://www.qualcomm.com/technology/1xev-do/revA.html |

Thanks. Either I misread the thread header or it's been fixed.

Don't mean to toss a bucket of cold water on your Rev A hopes, but there is going to be a significant cost to the carriers to upgrade those same chipsets in the cell sites...
Look for Rev A handsets to arrive before the carriers offer it, since it's backwards compatible. Your devices will then start to take advantage of the Rev A speeds as the carriers spend the upgrade money. |

Any idea on the cost?
Someone told me today that it was $500,000 per tower, but that seems WAY to high. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |
