|
|
My EVDO signal with Alltel coming and going, and I'm not been able to figure out why. I'm re-checking everything and trying to do careful tests.
I am confused about which antenna port is which on the KPC680. It's not referenced in the tiny manual, nor can I Google up a reference that seems authoritative. I can't remember what source I used a year ago to set up my antenna.
Anyway, my question is: which antenna port is which on the KPC680? Please reference the port closer to the edge vs. the port closer to the center of the card, since references to right and left are too relative, and I'm all too likely to flip a bit and get it backwards.
By the way, I'm using outdoor omnidirectional antenna. I am not using an amplifer.
Many thanks for information and references... |

| The antenna port you want to use is the one closest to the edge of the card. I use a KPC680 with an indoor booster antenna, all attached to a KR2 router. I know there are references on this site but don't have them handy -- look for a KPC680 thread... |

Many thanks... That's the antenna connector I've been using, but I wanted to be confident that I wasn't making a dumb mistake.
I've been back to 1x speeds for the past three weeks, with a revA connection about 10 percent of the time. The best story I can get from Alltel tech support is that I formerly was roaming to Sprint and that now I'll have to do the best I can do with the nearest Alltel or Verizon tower.
I've had terrible luck with a Yagi antenna, not least because I have no idea where the nearest tower is with revA (tech support says they can't help with that), and fishing for it yields no better results than the omni. The only theory I have is that, because I'm in a very rural area, I'm on the fringes for revA. I've been using an omni antenna rated 6 dB gain. I've ordered a 40" collinear antenna from AntennaGear that is supposed to have 11 dB gain. We'll see if that helps... |
