|
|
Hey team .. here is a strange one .. I have a Dell laptop - WIN XP and a VZW USB 727 Card ... if I connect and try to access the internet via a browser., the card will drop my connection after about 1:13 seconds.. IF I conenct to my companies VPN (Via Cisco VPN client) the card stays connected .. What would be driving this disconnect ? Its not the card, because I had a PCMCIA card before and it had the same issues ;( - that card in another laptop had no problems ( I have not tried the USB727 in another machine ....
Thanks in advance for your suggestions
Henryt97
(also is there any other software besides the VZW connwction manager that can be used ????) |

I am having the same problem. My Sierra 595U disconnects after it has been connected 6 minutes 40 seconds exactly. If I am downloading anything, it screws it up. It's not my network, it's the card or the tower. I called customer service and they had not heard of this problem and were going to look into it. _________________ SW 595U |

right click my computer> left click manage>expand event viewer>left click system.
Look at the event logs and post the error code you get when the connection fails. |

| I am having a similar problem. Error code is 12 "The device disappeared from the system without first being prepared for removal" Locked in hdr mode my signal falls from -75 to -100 when it used to stay steady at -75. |

| When connected, go to Field test, and check your RSSI, and more important your EC/IO. It might be the noise floor is high enough to drop you when you go dormant. Connecting a VPN will force the AT to stay connected, in most cases. |

So without vpn RSSI is 96 and rc/io is -8.5
with vpn its 97 and -9 ( I see some -7.5) My question now is ..
Where in the set up can I set these to correct values ?
thanks in advance ! |

You don't set these values. They are measures of signal strength. RSSI is the strength you are receiving in dbm, -75 is better than -85. ec/io is a measure of noise or interference, -3.0 is better than -6.0.
Try moving to different locations around your house to find a better signal.
Often a second floor window facing the tower may be the best location in your house. Sometimes just a few feet can make a big difference. |

| So I guess I am hosed.. where ever I am at this happen.s ... at home, on the road ... is there a way to force it to stay connected regardless of being dormant ... since the VPN can do that ? I just don't want the overhead of the VPN all the time (or its extra routing ..) |

Thats a pretty poor signal. The cell will drop the call at -12ec/io.
Get a good antenna. A 15db antenna with a short coax run, should yeild you an extra 10db, and drop your noise floor. |
