Laptop: New Dell XPS 1530M with embedded Novatel Dell 5720 E725 Verizon card.

Service: Verizon Mobile Broadband, with 5GB cap monthly.

Problem: 5 GB/mo. is not enough. It's like stepping away from every meal before getting full.

Can an external Express card and Sprint Mobile Broadband service be added and used not simultaneouly but in addition to the Verizon service, for a total of 10 GB/mo.?

I know I know the cost is exorbitant but where I live it's dial up, satellite or wired wireless that blocks game ports.

Thanks in advance.

Absolutely. You'll have two modems each with a different provider, plan, and cap. Have them both in the Dell and switch as needed.

Jim_in_VA that's twice you've helped me. Thanks!

Just clarify one thing for me please: what do you mean I'll have two modems? Is the express card itself a form of modem or ???? Aren't modems still physical, internal things? Surely, the laptop only came with one. Will I have to install a second one?

EVDO cards are often referred to as modems. A carry-over, I guess, from dial-up. Your embedded Novatel device and the Express card will make two "modems" aka "air cards". Not something you plug a phone line into.
