Figured we should start a new thread for the openwrt firmware since the other is getting realllllllyyyy long.

First I would like to thank evdo-wizard for creating the 3G version of openwrt! Thanks man great job.

I have made a few small mods which I figured i would post here for the community. This is the second time typing this post, and about the sixth time trying to post it since it told me the first one was spam since it started with a www. The second time I had to retype all of this.....Having to type this all over again is VERY frustrating, please mods....do somthing about this.

Problems:

Router seems to crash but connectivity stays up, you just cant access the router. Although connectivity stays up it gets much slower. Normal speed test for me indicates 1600 down 550 up, when its crashed I get 1000 down and 100 up. This creates a problem for my avaya phone which uses VOIP over a VPN.

Modifications:

Verizon has aparently disabled ping on their side of the interface, so on verizon you will keep getting disconnected every few minutes as the script runs and thinks you are down. Simple fix, just change the keep alive Ip in /bin/keepalive to somthing you know will be up, I use yahoos server at 69.147.76.15.

The dyndns script didnt work for me, so I wrote a new one. Here it is if you guys want to copy....:

I tried to include the script but every time i add it into the post it says "Anti-spam" feature triggered so I cant get it posted!

Once again thanks evdo-wizard!!!

new forum members will not be able to incorporate links into their forum posts until after they've had 10 posts.

sorry, but thats the way it is. otherwise we have spammers sign up and immediately start posting links to their sites.

Anyone know how to access ##DEBUG or like info while the AC595 card is plugged into the WRT54G3G router with OpenWRT firmware? I've got a problem with Verizon having added a new transmitter too close -- my signal strength and average up/down speeds are way up, but so is the latency and jitter (so anything realtime is basically useless -- called Verizon and they were too). Need to figure out how to connect to the older tower. Might have to order a Yagi.

Which build are you using? I'm on r82 using an AC595 through Verizon. My original keepalive script uses 208.67.222.222, which is an OpenDNS server (nothing to do with Verizon). But, maybe that was because I tried to enable OpenDNS use, without success (save changes doesn't save it, so can't apply).

Same here. Would love to try yours. Just post up some quick replies to get past that minimum post limit Smile

Ditto, I've been running the r82 of OpenWRT since it was first provided mid-way through the other thread. Great stuff! I really should figure out how to compile my own, but I'm stuck with Windows for now.

Could you PM me the script, so I could try it out? Where is the location of the dyndns script?
