| I recently upgraded from a USB727 to the USB760 (Verizon Wireless). I uninstalled all traces of previous software before installing the new 760 card/software. After activating it, the 760 seemed to be working fine, however about 20 minutes later, it started disconnecting/reconnecting on it's own, and turning itself off. I called tech support and they had me un-install/re-install, and it worked for about 3 minutes and started doing the same thing, we un-installed/re-installed again with the same results. I uninstalled the 760 and had them re-activate my 727, as I felt the 760 was too unstable and my husband needs the internet for work, so I couldn't trust that he wouldn't have problems all day long with it. I returned the 760. Anyone else have problems with it? Could I have just had a lemon? I live in the middle of nowhere and this is my only source for "higher" speed internet than dial-up (I bounce between broadband and national ALLLLLLL the time). My reason for upgrading to begin with is that my 727 started turning itself on and off all of a sudden a few weeks ago, so I figured maybe it was starting to go bad. it seems the 727 is no longer available. Should I try another 760? |

| I have a 760 and Verizon service from the 3G store and it is great. I had the 727 but like the 760 much better. Have you tried this on more than one computer? These modems draw power from the USB port. I would try another computer and see if the problem follows the modem or the computer. |

I also am having the same issues. I started out with a 760 about about 4 months ago. It was handy not having to install off of a disc, but the first and second (sent first one back, got another) 760 did the same exact thing you have described and it was extremely frustrating. So I have downgraded to a 727 and so far so good on the annoying noise like someone keeps reinserting the card to the usb port over and over untill yo want to step on it , however I have really started jumping back and forth from national to broadband. Tech support is not even sure why, but it is doing it on both of my 727 cards (2 lines, needed more then 5gb). I, like you guys, live in the middle of nowhere and work from the pc and have little to no other option. I believe or it seems that after it swithes back and forth from national to broadband several times, it disconnects. I could be wrong, it just seems to follow that pattern. My closest tower is 6 miles away and I am going to buy a 26t 1900mhz Andrew grid antenna in hopes of reaching out and grabbing that signal to maintain broadband all the time. ~~My area is now considered a "trouble area" and i was offered no penalty if i choose to cancel my contracts ( because the engineers cant expain whats going on), but if I dont have this, it dial-up, and that s a bad word Good Luck to you all! |

The verizon tech could not resolve the issue with the first usb760 so I returned it and got a second.
After being connected for 5 hours non-stop, the second one had the same problem, would not stay connected for more then 3 minutes without powering off (the green light is off)
I was thinking it might be heat related. Stuck the modem in a plastic bag and put it in the freezer for 10 minutes.
It has now been working for the last hour without failing.
Makes you wonder |
