Lost the internet for about 1 hour last night.

Was on the internet last night (Friday) and all of a sudden it just quit working. Checked my router that the modem is in and it still showed good signal. Tried to ping from CMD and either got no response or times above 1000ms.

Grabbed a laptop and plugged in the modem, still nothing. I messed around for a while trying and checking different things. Called my son who lives 10 mi. away and has cable, yes internet working you him.

I was getting ready to call Alltel when I tried one last time to open a site on the internet and it worked. Not real fast a first but within 15 min. everything was back to normal.

What the heck happened? I have no idea. This was about 8:30pm so I don"t think they were working on the tower.

Anybody have anything like this happen to them? Any ideas?

Everthing working fine since, just wondering what the heck happened.

Could have been a tower issue. But you have remeber that Verizon and Alltel are working on merging their data networks together and you can expect problems till the merger is 100% complete.
