|
|
I installed Sprint SmartView for my Merlin EX720 on my win XP laptop yesterday and everything worked fine. Today, I installed it on my new laptop (Vista 64-bit) and it SEEMED that everything went okay, but when I start up the Sprint SmartView and hit connect, it always just says "Connecting...", however, I can tell for certain that I am connected using that connection because Yahoo messenger signs in, I can surf the web, and that is the only connection on this laptop. So I'm "connected" but Sprint SmartView doesn't realize I am. Which means I can't use it to gauge my speed, strength, or data transfer. I called Sprint Adv Tech and they basically told me they've never heard of this problem. I uninstalled and reinstalled, ran as administrator, tried running in compatibility mode, etc. but nothing seems to get it to actually go from "Connecting..." to "connected". And if I close the SmartView program, my connection is also closed.
Anybody have any ideas?? |

Try deleting the 3G Connection item from Network Connections window after disconnecting EX720.
The modem will make a new one on the next connection. You may need to reboot then plug EX720 back in before connecting again. |

| Tried that but it still has the same error. Just to note I also downloaded the OLDER software (prior to the Smartview) and that seems to finish "connecting". I don't think that's an acceptable solution tho. I'm sure many people use Vista and Sprint SmartView. Also, not sure if I noted this in the above message, but I had this exact card and software running fine on my XP machine. Any more suggestions? Thanks! |

I'll try one last suggestion:
Double click on the 3G Connection icon to connect without the Sprint software.
What happens? |

| FWIW, some programs that run fine on 32 bit Vista don't run on 64 bit Vista. |

| I can connect just fine. The connection isn't the issue. It's getting SmartView to run with the connection so I can gauge how long I've been on, what I've transferred so far, and utilize the rest of the software's features. I know that some stuff doesn't run ok on 64-bit but the Sprint website says that it should be fine. Also the tech support said he didn't know why it doesn't work because it should. Thanks |
