When you login to your account at sprint.com, under "My Phone & Plan" on the main page, does your account still show "Unlimited KB included"?

It says unlimited for all subscribers who signed up before mid 2008; however, it is irrelevant. The Terms and Conditions are what you and Sprint are bound by.

call me STOOOOOPID....

I added a phone to my sprint plan back in March. I was told that my aircard bill would go down to $50 a month (from $60). I told the dude in the store that I don't want anything to change my plan... that I was on one of the ones that was grandfathered and the 5 gig limit didn't hit my account.

Dude in store says that it wouldn't.

Flash forward to today. I haven't seen my bill go down the $10 a month.. so dumbass me asks about it when I called in to Sprint over something else today.

Dumb. Dumb. Dumb.

The guy on the phone says that he can fix it. I AGAIN say that I don't want my plan to change IN ANY WAY.... because I don't have the cap and I wanna keep it that way. He says "no problem".

So I get transferred to someone (making arrangements on my bill... what can I say.. this economy is killin' me! LOL)....

Then while I'm on the phone with the person to make arrangements on my account, I go to Sprint.com and see that NOW the 5 Gig cap is showing as my plan! !! !!!! !!!

(*^$#$%^&*()(*&^%$#@!

So as I write this, I'm now on hold waiting for someone to get back to me about switching me back to what I had as a plan 45 minutes ago.

Just giving all of you a heads up... because it's quite obvious that we dumbass customers know more than these reps we talk to in the stores and at Sprint.

One hour and twenty minutes of high blood pressure later....

I won.

My account is now showing "unlimited" again.

Flippin' Bast*ards. You have to about have a stroke on the phone before they fix what they screwed up.

I just LOVE the bimbo that kept telling me that the plans have ALWAYS all been the same... idiot.

I asked her how long she worked there... and got dead silence. Then I asked if she has been working there for over a year to see this crapola unfold... and the twit said "That's a personal question that I don't have to answer"...

Which only made me madder.

I asked to talk to her supervisor.. and then... almost magically... she manages to get my old account code back.

Miracles, I tell ya.. miracles.

I guess I'll enjoy it until March 2010 when my contract expires.

I just checked my Sprint account and it still shows unlimited usage.

Since I am using about 100 meg/month I will probably drop Sprint in Sept when my contract ends and switch to the Virgin Mobile prepaid EVDO.
Virgin Mobile says they use the Sprint network ~$20/month vs ~$50 (one of the organizations I am affiliated with gets a 20% Sprint discount.)

Tech support folks I know in large companies depend upon EVDO modems to give them an outside connection to sites that the corporate folks haven't yet opened up.
Anyone who has to download a couple of Microsoft disc images from Technet or Microsoft download will use up 5 gig in no time.

Even though I have been out of contract for over a year, my account still shows as unlimited and I am consistently using between 7-10gb/month. It definitely seems like most people that originally started as unlimited are staying that way even if they are out of contract.

The most annoying part with my connection is that last fall the speeds dropped down some so that I get between 400-700Kb down and 100-200Kb up. Before last fall, I was consistently getting 1-1.2Mb down and 200-300Kb up. It sure would be nice to know why the speeds dropped back so dramatically and have stayed that way ever since. Even during off-peak times (like 4:30a), the max speed I get is about 700Kb.

I've made quite a few changes to my account recently (like, within the last 2 months - it is the end of July 2009 for those of you reading this in the future). Among other things, I changed rate plans (on my voice line), upgraded phones (Palm Pre!), and added a second data account (MiFi... it's a long story...), yet as of 2 minutes ago, my Merlin EX720 is still showing as "unlimited"... whereas my new MiFi is showing as a 5 GB plan.

I'm really bummed because recently my EX720 took a rather nasty fall, and... well... it's (literally) being held together with super glue and duct tape at this point, and that's not bound to last very long. Plus these newfangled MiFi cards are just too attractive, and so in a moment of weakness I broke down and bought one. I only qualified for a $75 discount on the full price of the MiFi if I upgraded, whereas I qualified for the $150 - $50 MIR price if I opened the MiFi under a new line, so the guy behind the counter convinced me to do that (what can I say, I experienced a moment of weakness). I have 30 days to change my mind on this of course. But darn it all, I'm just lovin the MiFi... it's just way too convenient, plus the fact that it's WiFi means no drivers to mess with, and it works just fine with my non-computer devices (Nintendo DS, iPod touch, etc.).

Ideally I would LOVE to just replace my rapidly disintegrating EX720 with a MiFi card... I would even be willing to BUY the MiFi card outright... but I am wondering (as has happened to at least one other person on this thread), if I make ANY sort of change on the line where my EX720 card is now (including ESN swaps) on my currently-listed-as-unlimited account, would it then lose its unlimited status? if so then all of my schemings are moot anyway so I might as well keep my new MiFi card and cancel my EX720's line (it's almost at the end of its contract anyway so the termination fee probably wouldn't be that outrageous).

You should be able to do a simple ESN swap without changing your data plan. I have. I have an out-of-contract listed-as-unlimited data plan. In the past 6 months I have done 4 ESN swaps (from pc-card device to bad usb device, from bad usb device back to pc-card device, from pc-card device to good usb device, and finally from usb device to the sprint mifi). The first 3 swaps were done through phone reps, the last one I did myself online just a week ago. My plan was never touched and still lists as unlimited. The online ESN swap is probably safest. Of course, I did not use any upgrade deals/rebates to buy my devices.

Thanks for that info. That's quite reassuring. In fact I didn't know that you could perform an ESN swap yourself online... where is that, in the Sprint website? Is there any "special url" I need to go to, or is it right off the main "my account" page?

In my account, the link is on the main page where my phone and device is listed, under the column "I want to:". Link says "Activate a new phone". That takes you to a page titled "ESN Swap: Identify your new phone" with instructions on finding the phone's code. My Mifi was working within about 20 minutes of filling out the online form. I did not have to do additional configuration on the mifi.
