Does it do anything? Even if you are not on the internet...

My connection has been up and active with Verizon 7 x 24 since I got my system (USB727 + Cradlepoint CTR 350) last November.

VZ has never booted me off that I know of. If they did, it automatically reconnected. My usage data does not show anything that I would consider strange or excessive.

My PC is on and connected 7 X 24 and automatically downloads Windows updates and AVG virus updates.

My wife logs on and off the WiFi connection with her laptop several times a day and I log on and off with my work laptop that I bring home once a day.

Life is good.....

My UM175 card is installed in my desktop PC at home. The PC is on 24/7, and the card is running in NDIS mode (makes it act like an Ethernet card instead of a dialup modem). The PC is setup using the built in Internet connection sharing in XP.

Been like that for quite some time now. Works just fine!
