How to Lock in REV A only, Sprint Compass 597

I've looked in past posts, but they haven't answered my question:

However the modem has lately been switching back and forth between evdo and 1xrtt again. With the device plugged into my computer I have gone to Tools>Settings>Mobile in Sprint Smartview but there doesn't seem to be an option to lock in evdo, even while being disconnected. The options I see are "Device Selection", "Connection Type" (RAS or NDIS) and "Device configuration". In the "Device Selection" section, I have it set to Manual with the Compass 597 being selected as the modem. Even if it is set to Auto, there is no change in the available options. After reading over the user guide for the Sprint Smartview software, I found that there is a "Mode" menu which would let me choose to lock into evdo, yet it doesn't appear in my settings.

I cant find the evdo only settng either, looks like they have not give that as an option this time.
if is has a - 81 evdo signal on my old card it wont connect with sierra 597 it goes straight to the 1xrtt conection.

I have the same USB Compass 597 card and it does the same thing very once in a while. Bugs me.
