Hot swap PCMCIA on V2 ?

Can I insert or remove my PX-500 pcmcia modem while my WRT54G3GV2-ST router is turned on?

I have an original WRT54G3G-ST at my office and know that if I remove the modem while the router is turned on and then reinsert it, it doesn't connect. I just bought a WRT54G3GV2-ST for my home and it seems that if I leave it turned on but push the connect/disconnect button to disconnect, I can remove the PX-500, reinsert, and have it actually work. I tried 3 times--it didn't connect the first time, connected easily the second time, and took about a minute to connect the third time. Surprisingly, the manual doesn't mention anything about this.

This ability to hot swap is important to me because I frequently move my modem between my home and office.

Also, does anyone know if the USB modems (like the Compass 597) work the same way? I'm thinking of getting one of those to tide me over until Xohm/Clear becomes available.
