|
|
I have a UM150 VW (which is the verizon branded um150). Can I activate this on alltel? I had problems activating it yesterday, and had to hit ctrl+d and enter 0 for the "Activation Code", after which it activated, but it still won't let me log in.
Is the um150 vw somehow locked to verizon wireless? |

Have you tried switching PRL's just for fun? *shrug* Just a thought.
I don't see why it would be an issue - people have done that with cell phones for years. |

yeah, I put 40042, which is the latest I found, but I think it's the wrong one as it gives my Rev A, and my working data card is on 40043 and no Rev A
Is there any way to extract the prl from my data card? |

From what I'd been reading, the 40042 vs. 40043 is based on what area you're in (divested vs. non-divested).
I personally do not know any way to pull a PRL off a device. I'd keep checking Corolada to see when they post the 40043, though. |

| what I'm really unsure about is why the activation fails unless I enter "0" for the activation code? Does it mean it's really not activated? And when I go to Tools/Activation, it doesn't pop up another screen where I can enter the phone number / imsi, but straight to trying to activate. I have to hit Ctrl+D and enter "000000" as the password to get to where I can manually enter the details. |

I hate to sound silly, but Alltel DOES have the modem's ESN on file, right?
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but you shouldn't need an activation code. |

| yes, I called to change the ESN, but it still wouldn't let me log in. (You can't change the ESN online for data cards, wonder if they have to do anything special...) |

Hard to say on that one.
You're trying to activate it through Manual Activation? Did the Activation option under the Tools menu in QLM not work?
And what PRL is on that card right now? If all else fails, I'd put 40038 on it until the 40043 shows up on Corolada. |

yes, when I go to Tools/Activation, it goes straight to "Activation started" and then, after a while, "Activation failed". The only way to get it to work is to try the Manual Activation with an Activation Code of 0.
I've put both my PC5750 on prl 40038, and the PC5750 can connect properly, and gets Rev 0, while the UM 150 sees Rev A (but cannot connect) |
