I finally got the Verizon prl to work with Alltel's QLM using our um150al.
I had to get the latest verizon prl which is 51248. I also had to switch from mobile ip off to preferred for it to work. I could use an antenna here as I am only getting 2-3 bars signal.
Speedtest for proof:
Check out that ping!!!
Hope it sticks around!

/me looks surprised.
I am gonna test this as well with a Verizon prl.
EDIT:
I just checked on the usual PRL page http://www.corolada.com/prl/ and wasn't able to find that Verizon PRL (only lower versions).
Can you direct me where you found that? |

rename the file 51248.prl when it is done downloading or it won't work. |
Cheers, going to test now. |

I just tried the 51143 off of:
http://www.corolada.com/prl/
and it works also so you can get that one for sure. |

Was able to get it put in and it found the rA tower near me (which has a lower signal). I get -75 on the Alltel EVDO tower but -88 on Verizon rev-a tower (2 bars).
Anyways the speed test was a little downgraded due to the time 9:00 PM here and tower signal but still latency/ping is greatly improved.
Speedtest here:
Gonna pull a all nighter and grab some speed tests at 3 AM.
Also on the Verizon 51248 PRL, I seen you uploaded to RS but it got taken to fast but I got it off Megaupload...This link should help the rest of you out.

Cheers though on this, good stuff in Appleton, WI |

| I've been experimenting with different prl's and I tried the one you suggest and it says unable to authenticate etc. Any hints on how to do this? UM175 - QLM 4.8.4 |

Well, that would kinda mean the tower your trying to connect to won't let you. I believe currently at least that Verizon has only allowed Alltel connections onto their towers, and afaik its not forced cause of course we had a update our PRL manually.
It sounds like you are trying to connect to some tower which Verizon customers may be able to roam onto but yet Alltel customers can't. Think in time with this merger there may be some changes (I cross my fingers a transfer cap isn't one of them). |

| The thing is, I'm almost positive the tower I'm trying to connect to is a verizon one. Anyway, with an older prl I'm connecting to a revA tower, albeit with a rssi of -87dbm and 2 bars of strength. I have a Yagi directional antenna that I'm hoping will boost those numbers - just waiting on a connecter from the 3g store. |

OMG!!! I did what Pioneer said about turning MOBILE IP off and used the PRL 51242 and this is what I got now.
Normally I got 1400 kb/s down and 300 kb/s up which was great but now I got almost double that!!! Ping is about the same. This is awesome!!! I verified that I'm on a different channel and PN as well. I know there is a Verizon tower nearby and I'm getting an RSSI of -70 now constant. |

Yeah this kills Alltel's speeds by far:
It is far more stable in speed also. I haven't dropped below 1mb down or 200kb up yet. |

| Probably a noob question, but where do you turn off mobile ip? In Quick Link Mobile? I didn't see a setting, but maybe I was looking in the wrong place. |

| You have to be disconnected and click on the QLM box and type ctrl + d, then you type in diagsmsi into the box. |
