| I have tried the same thing here and it is working like a charm. I went from the sprint prl to the verizon prl and man have things changed. I am still toying with antenna orientation as I have 2 parabolic antennas and 1 yagi antenna. I have 2 bars and an hdr rssi of 91 dbm. I am going to repoint my antenna this afternoon. |

| I just called them to make sure that I would not incur any roaming charges. The rep acted like he had never heard of doing this before. He said that because my plan was unlimited, there were no roaming charges. However, I told him I would monitor my bill to make sure. |

Why?
They can look in there and technically Verizon owns Alltel company so its their own tower. |

| In fact, the tower that I am pulling from must be some sort of partnership. My 1900mhz grid was pulling from the sprint prl and when I changed the prl to the verizon one which is on 800mhz, the parabolic was still pulling the signal. Of course the rssi was much higher. This was not a fluke because it was locked on to the same pilot number. I proceeded to put my 800mhz yagi back up and boom, rssi back down to -77dbm. |

Check this out. What a dramatic difference. I was on an alltel tower getting crappy speed. I was lucky to get 768kbps and some days was dropping to 500kbps. I am using a yagi on the 800mhz band and pointed to a verizon tower. |

| This worked really great for about 2 weeks. Had a weaker signal through Versizon but the speed was at least 5 times faster and much more stable. As of about 2 hours ago my username and password are now invalid on the domain(when using the VZW prl). Now back on my alltel prl and getting the typcal 230/90 Rev 0 speeds I've been getting since December(at -80 RSSI). Guess the party's over. For me at least. |

| That's weird. I just tried using the Verizon PRL as I was back on Alltel due to better ping times and it worked alright. |

Somehow I'm connecting to a revA tower on Alltel and I don't get disconnected after 12hrs like I do if I'm on the DO. I tried the verizon PRL last night and was able to connect to verizon revA and got better speeds and ping. ( 2000down500up (150ms) compared to 1300down/400up (200ms).) But on the verizon tower I was disconnected after 12hrs.
Does everyone else get disconnected after 12hours? Weird that I don't on the Alltel revA but do on the Alltel DO and Verizon revA.
Wish there was a way to make the card immediately connect back after losing its connection. Perhaps then some of the online apps I use wouldn't get disconnected. |

I have gotten the 12 hour disconnect for months on my original Alltel DO tower. Also have gotten the same results on a Verizon Rev-A tower around here and as far as I heard majority of people are getting the 12 hour disconnect.
Looked into it more and Alltel calls it the 12 hour "IP refresh". Also there is really no way to avoid it its physically them who is forcefully disconnecting your card from its connection and its done network side also the online timing is done on their side (tried to edit memory address to reduce online time without success). Sadly, this always results in reconnecting which of course assigns you a new IP and closes all connections.
Best option I can see is to simply set it to reconnect instantly in whatever you use. The only official way to avoid this would be to get a static IP which Alltel doesn't give to people very easy (businesses is a little different). |

Yeah, I was certain it was their doing... too bad its an ip refresh.
Seems I'm lucky to be on an Alltel tower that doesn't have the refresh.. I'll stick to the Alltel tower. I can handle the slightly slower speeds. |

Can I use the Verizon 51242 PRL on my Altell KPC680 broadband card? I travel quite a bit.
Also, how do I get the new PRL into the card. I couldn't find a way to do it.
