I tried a 598U under Windows 7 beta and got these errors:
"This driver installer does not recognize your operating system. The installer will now exit"
If you look under "Data Interface", there is no driver that is installed, so this means that Sprint SmartView does not "see" the mobile broadband card.

This is from the windows 7 forums. I havent had a chance to try it yet. I will later today and report back.
Install smart view by inserting your card, you will get smartview and not the drivers installed but thats okay.
Now go to device manager and install the drivers manually, modem port, network adapter and the serial ports.
Right click and update driver software. now click on search manually and point to c:\program files\sprint\sprint smart view\sierra package\drivers-----then hit okay and it should install every driver flawless. You might get an error on the network port where it would say it wont start but it wont matter. click on your smart view and walla your connected!! |

| Okay I tryed it and it works! you do need to install the driver for the data interface first and then go through each sierra device and re-install the drivers again. Hope this helps you |

I installed Windows 7 RTM last night (from MSDN), but could not get my USB 598 to work using these instructions.
Sprint SmartView will not see the device.
When I try to connect directly using Windows 7, I get "Error 680: There is no dialtone"
Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Well, nevermind.
I removed the Sprint software.
Then, reboooted.
Then, I installed the drivers.
Installed the Sprint software.
No luck.
Rebooted.
No luck.
Repeated the above process.
Worked. |
