|
Check out our Sprint 598U Review on EVDOinfo.com
Sprint will be announcing a new USB Modem on 01/09/09 called the Sprint 598U by Sierra Wireless.
Features of the Sierra Wireless 598U include:
- Vista, XP, Mac OS X Support (doesn't fit in MacBook Air - but does work with included cable)
- Tru Install, NO CD needed to install
- GPS Support
- MicroSD Slot
- Antenna Port (yes, we have antenna adapters, so all booster, omni, RV, magnetic mount, yagis, work with it - see 598U antenna options )
- Sprint Smartview Support
CradlePoint already supports the 598U in the latest MBR1000 and CTR500 firmware.
We already have these in stock for the AirCard 598U launch.
The 598U will sell for $29.99, PLUS there is a Sprint $50 Mail-in Rebate (so you make $20). If you already have a Sprint account and want to upgrade, the price is $249.99. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

Do let us Know if it is an upgrade to the compass or a lower grade device..
also if you can tell us if it has a mini pci express card inside it that we can pop into our notebooks (I want it embedded)
Not to side tract
(does the compass have a removable Mini Pci Express Card, if so what Notebook can that card be found in AKA so we can get its drivers) |

Neither the USB598 nor the Compass597 contain a miniPCIe card - they are physically too small.
AC595U was the only Sierra USB modem to have a miniPCIe inside.

Please let us know what is the difference between the 597 and 598.
Is the 598 a true upgrade, better quality/features device? or is it an inferior quality product when compared to the 597.
I would like to get one of these but don't want to get the wrong one. |

| When using this on a Unibody Macbook Pro, does it block the other USB port (when not using the cable) like the Compass does? |

hey mike, this sounds like justification to get a new MBP, right? |
Already have one
Yes, the USB ports are blocked on the unibody 15 inch MacBook Pro. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

Well that's just epic fail on Apple's part...guess I'll have to live with a cable or get the expresscard. |

Not really Apple's fault, just about every laptop has USB ports spaced the same way. If you plug in a device that is too big, it is going to block adjacent ports. Luckily, if you need those blocked ports, you can use the supplied USB cable and all is well. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

I have an external antenna with adapter cable to Merlin S720. Will this fit the 598U?
Thanks,
Dennis |

Is the Mail-In Rebate in the box? I'll look again, but I don't recall seeing it. Download link?
Thanks,
