For those that have grandfathered service before the 5gig limit. What happens when the 2 year contract is up?. Do you renew and still grandfathered, get a new contract and still grandfathered or get the new contract limited to 5gig and overage charges. If the USB720 takes a dump can you go to Verizon and simply buy a replacement or will they lay a new limited contract on you?. I and probably others would like these answers as many contracts will come to the 2 year limit soon.

| I'm still under contact with the old TOS, but when you're out of contract, you can't upgrade to a new device in a Verizon store or you will be converted to the new TOS. Your best bet would be to look around on eBay to find a new and/or used aircard if you need a new one. Doing an ESN swap with customer care from an old aircard to a new aircard doesn't modify your TOS agreement in any way. |

Dave -
I have been grandfathered for about 12 years now and have upgraded my Air Card about 5 times. In every case, I ordered the new Air Card via Internet and retained my original Service Plan.
The last 2 times I renewed, I became aware of the 5 GB limit and was very careful when ordering. In each case, at the BOTTOM of one of the order pages was a checkbox with the statement something like: "Retain original Service Plan".
I decided to trust them in this, and low and behold, I did keep my Unlimited Service Plan. It could be that going to a Verizon office will not allow this possibility. But I can state for a certainty, IF you see this statement and CHECK the box, then you will keep your grandfathered status.
That is my experience and I've done it twice to upgrade aircards. I'd say that's a pretty firm recommendation as long as you take the time to read each page carefully and locate that remark (almost hidden) at the bottom of one of the pages.
