If i get a booster antenna will it help my ping time?
I am getting 300ms ping playing in online groups and im getting TERRIBLE spikes while TRYING to raid. |

antennas improve signal between your device and cell tower.
SOMETIMES, better signal can result in better ping.
to see if better signal will get you better ping times, read -> http://www.EVDOinfo.com/RSSI to understand how to use RSSI to judge signal, and then drive in direction of best signal until you get something like -80 or -70
heck, go find the tower feeding you and sit 50ft from it.
now, do a dozen tests and see if average ping has improved or not.
if it has NOT, then the latency/ping issue is occurring AFTER the cell tower... between the tower and your online game server... and if thats the case, nothing you can do with a high gain antenna, is going to improve that problem.
if in fact, better signal DID result in better ping, then now you have to decide which antenna will work best for you -- read this thread/article: http://3gstore.com/antennas _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas/Routers/Amps :: Verizon EVDO :: Sprint EVDO :: Why Buy from 3Gstore? |

There are some things you can do to try and decrease latency.
It is theoretically possible to reduce latency by reducing packet
size(MTU). This is a trial and error thing and there's no one size
fits all answer. DrTCP seems to be the most popular software
for doing that although there are others that will do the same
thing.
Big time gamers say that disabling the Nagle algorithm in the
windows registry will reduce latency. This is a very heady topic
so do a Google on 'Nagle algorithm' and find your way through
that mess.
Try this simple test to see if you can reduce latency. If you use
a software firewall, disable it and run some before and after tests
at speedtest.net to see if latency improves.
Disabling my Norton 2005 FW will shave off 100-200ms from the
latency. Web sites respond quicker and pages load faster. I'm not
a gamer and don't know how it affects that environment. Rather than
rely on ping tests play an actual game and see what happens.
If gaming improves then you have a choice of internet gaming
versus internet security.

| I drove to the area that I believe my tower is at and the ping stayed pretty much the same. The bars that I got increased. In my situation from the information I was able to give, would an antenna help me? I stay at around -90db. |

nope, don't believe an antenna is going to help you.
you proved it yourself. you drove to tower and saw more "bars" -- which means you improved signal... and yet you saw no difference in ping.
all an antenna will do is improve signal, the same as you did driving to tower. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas/Routers/Amps :: Verizon EVDO :: Sprint EVDO :: Why Buy from 3Gstore? |

| so what would a better signal and a lower -dmb count do for me? |
