| I've got my new-every-two discount and can upgrade my modem. Which one of the USB modems is the best one? USB727, UM175, or USB760? |

| What device are you presently using? You may find your current device is comparable to those you have listed. Will falling under a new contract and new usage rules, etc. be what you want? |

| Presently using the PC5740, which does not permit me to lock out 1xRTT, and does not have an external antenna port. Those are the features I want to get. |

I'm not sure what your current contract states but the newer Verizon contracts that people agree to have pretty hefty $ penalties if you got over the 5G monthly usage agreement. Older contracts have no such $ charge for over usage but Verizon can throttle you back if you exceed 5G. Anyway you as an XBOX user, etc. may not want to go for a new contract with the $ fee for usage overages. You may just want to go on say eBAY and buy a different broadband device outright. In the last few days I have seen U720's, etc. on eBay for less then $30.00.
Careful what you buy on eBAY but good deals are out there. Get a new modem for way less then you will pay Verizon for a new/deal modem. AND... just do not renew your Verizon contract and I believe you can go on and on, on your old contract rules. I am almost 100% sure in what I am telling you. Hope others chime in here and agree or give other insight on this.. |

That is exactly what a Verizon Rep told me. If I upgrade through them, it equates to a new contract and I am no longer grandfathered on the 5 GB limit. If I purchase a newer data card on Ebay and do an ESN switch, the contract is not renewed. |

This is my understanding as I mentioned in my last post here. For most the 5G is plenty but if you are someone that possibly exceed 5G by streaming lets say then you would be wiser to stick with the old contract rules..
Many "deals" lets say are on eBAY for used modems. Probably wise to message the seller and get the ESN#. I have called Verizon before to verify an ESN# is clear and clean lets say. Once you determine the modem is clear and clean probably aok to buy if the seller has excellent feedback.. Buy with a VISA or MC card so you can get a charge back if the modem is no good and you cannot get the eBAYER to give you your $ back.. Of course you could buy a new modem without a contract from the 3Gstore, etc. |

3gstore is now able to provide upgrade pricing AND still maintain status that avoids overage charges after 5GB. the upgrade would require 2yr contract reset.
upgrade pricing for those 13+ months or 20+ months into a 24 month contract are listed on our order request form at https://3gstore.com/verizon/cards.php
anyone upgrading who wants to ensure they avoid overage charges should put into order notes "please ensure no overage charges after upgrade" |

When I go to the Verizon website to upgrade my device on the new every two program, I am given the choice to sign up for a new data plan, or keep my existing plan and just upgrade the device. Won't that allow me to keep my promotional unlimited-monthly-data contract?

Your current plan
BROADBANDACCESS PROMO UNLIMITED $59.99 2Y 0805
Monthly Access: $59.99
...
I don't want to change my calling plan at this time.
I just want to upgrade to a new phone.
