|
|
During the recent Q&A process for CTR500/MBR1000 Firmware 1.4, it became clear that one of the biggest hurdles to overcome is how some mobile devices might act up only in some coverage areas, but don't act the same way in other areas.
We've been given the privilege of asking users on EVDOforums who would be interested in doing beta testing of future cradlepoint router firmware, to post their "reasons for participation".
Think you've got a special circumstance that cradlepoint should know about?
Willing to work patiently with geeky engineers to find a possible solution?
Then feel free to post your story onto this EVDOforums thread.
Let's be clear: 3Gstore will not be making the final selection of EVDOforum public forum members who will have the chance to participate in the private beta forum. Cradlepoint will make final decision on who gets into private beta forum or not. The main reason for possibly not selecting everyone interested is due to the overhead that maybe involved with adding too many people at one time. Cradlepoint is looking to find the right amount of people providing feedback versus the time involved in monitoring posts on beta features and firmware.
Top candidates are likely to be those problems that cradlepoint already struggles to duplicate, so be as specific as you can on the environment in which you use your Cradlepoint router. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas/Routers/Amps :: Verizon EVDO :: Sprint EVDO :: Why Buy from 3Gstore?

Great idea!
Just so everyone understands, if accepted by CradlePoint, you will not have to log into a new web site, you will have access to the "CradlePoint Beta Forum" that is currently invisible to you. You will still log in here, you will just see a new "CradlePoint Beta Forum" on the front page. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

I'd like to participate. I'm new to EVDO, but have lots of programming and networking experience.
My equipment: Alltel UM150 with a Cradlepoint 350, with the ethernet port connected to a 8 port hub. My setup isn't complete (as I haven't moved into the new house yet) but once complete (probably in 1 week or 2), will have 2 wireless laptop clients, a wired server, printer and desktop.
I've had no real problems (except the bug in the 350 causing it to fail when Cradlepoints website is down). I do see occasions where the EVDO will not connect until powercycleing the 350. Once I'm moved into the new house, I'll start looking for a cause. |

| I'd be willing to participate. I have a number of different PDA devices -- WIndows Mobile (Unlocked ATT Tilt, 8525, and an old Eten device) & Symbian (Nokia E65 & E71). I own a CTR 350 & PHS300. I have TMobile & ATT SIMs which are data enabled most of the time (the Tmobile belongs to wife, along with the Tilt). I also have relatively easy access to a Rogers signal and a small amount of data on their Canadian network. I'm based in Metro Detroit but also work in Dubai UAE and buy Etisilat Data when I am there. I also have a United-Mobile +423 data enabled roaming SIM. |

I would like to participate. I have done software beta testing in the past for several different companies. I have an MBR1000 with Verizon 740 air card. Our network includes two computers connected with either ethernet cable or wireless, a wireless printer, and a couple of shared harddisks and a shared scanner. We live full time in our Motorhome, so cover all different parts of the country. _________________ John H Boyd |

Not sure what the process is involved into joining the Beta forums for Cradlepoint.
I would like to join the Beta forums since I tend to keep my network running smoothly and was considering downgrading to 1.3 from 1.4 since it had connectivity issues with losing contact with my v740.
I noticed that 1.4.2 is available but the link on the Cradlepoint webpage was linked to 1.4. and not 1.4.2. Good thing for the online chat support I had the rep Jean from CP mail me the firmware upgrade to 142. Cant say enough about the tech-support..
I am planning on running 142 for a few solid weeks and hopefully I wont need to re-seat my v740 to initiate communications with it. This issue was not present in 1.3 and for my setup was introduced in 1.4. |

I would be interested in participating but I have a UM175 and CTR350. Pre-sale, CP told me it was supported and the website was just out of date. So I bought a CTR350 to use with my UM175.
Post-sale, I called with a tech support question and was told it wasn't supported and I could upgrade to a CTR500 for $50 or wait for the next CTR350 firmware update. So count me in, I am chomping at the bit for a new firmware image for my 350. |

Hi,
I've been using EVDO for a bit, since 2006 and am using a CTR350. I have a Compass 597 which I had issues with that Cradlepoint wasn't able to help out with but I was able to figure out on my own afterwards. I've recently moved to an area where I typically get about -95dBm with the modem plugged directly into the laptop. The signal strength will vary, but now I've been able to use antennas to get it to -73dBm to -80dBm easily showing 100% on SmartView. (I take it out of the router to verify that I am getting a good signal).
I figure I can beta test with both an excellent signal and a mediocre to poor signal all in one location. |

| I would be happy to participate - I live in Canada and am on the Rogers Mobile Network. I have both the Ovation MC950D USB stick as well as the PC Express Novatel Merlin X950D. I have participated in a number of beta programs before and I work in the computer science field. |

| I would be interested in participating. I have an MBR-1000 and 1.4.2 isn't working with my Blackberry Storm or my Icon 322 (AT&T quicksilver) so I'd like to help sort that out for my own needs! |

| I'd love to participate - I have a Sprint 598U, which I'd like to use with a PHS300 if possible. I use it on a MacBook Air but being able to let a small group use, or to not consume my one USB port. |

I would like to participate in the "cradlepoint beta forum"
I use a CRT350 to connect multiple computers and gaming systems to the internet via a Pantech UM150 (Alltel). I've been running this configuration since April 2008.
However, my UM150 "died" on Sunday (1/25/09) - diagnosis after about 1 hour working with Alltel.
After going to a couple Alltel stores, I learned that they don't carry UM150 anymore - and also stopped carrying all Pantech modems. They have replace it with Huewi EC168. I got the UM175 hoping there would be a better chance that would work in the CTR350. however, after hooking it up... nothing. no USB light, no modem diagnostics avail.
I upgraded my firmware ver to 2.2.1
I really need to get my system up and running, and I know others will have the same issues - I am willing to help diagnose. |

Count me in as well
Using PHS300 and CTR500
Sprint U727
ATT Blackberry Bold
T-mobile 8320
ATT Option GT Ultra Express
I would really be interested in seeing a fix on the CTR500 and Option GT Express, the download speed seems to hit a soft limit of 500kbps give or take where as I often see uploads around 1mbps, if I put it in the pc instead I get 1-2 mbps down and 1mbps up |
