Hello, i m one of the many people whos only option for high speed internet is an air card or satellite. I'm new to air cards and need some gerneral knowledge. So ill start with ym questions:

I have heard Sprint and Verizon are good, but i think that they both have bad reception in my area. I know there is a Cingular tower in my town and i live in the boondocks but my friends still get 3-4 bars at my house with their cell phones. I unfortunately have Nextel and have basicly no service at my house (0-2 bars inside). I know that sprint owns nextel but i dont know if they use the same towers. At my dads house which is probably 1/8th of a mile a way i get 4-5 bars of service inside so could if i got an antenna would i get much better reception? BTW my dad has at&t and had about no service at his house and i dont think they verizon is good in out area either.

Also, what kind of download speeds can you achieve with air cards, like when you actually download something. I can say that i get 52kbps down with dialup but i actually download stuff at like 5kb/s lol so i like it when people actually tell me what they download at.

Last, is it fast enough to use xbox live?

So summed up should i get cingular and have petty good reception, or sprint with possibly bad reception. If sprint is that much faster that it would make a difference. How fast are they actually, and can i play xbox live on them?

Thanks -Matt

if "colon, mi" is the area you are referring to, i'd recommend sprint service... but to be sure i'd need your full street address as there are pockets where coverage sucks. feel free to email the full street address to sales@ 3gstore.com and we'll research coverage at your location.

for info about what "actual speeds are like" in michigan, check this site out: http://evdomaps.com/MI

that lists actual speedtests by members of this forum. you can zoom around, and turn off carriers to narrow your research.

don't think that just because there are no records for your area that there is no coverage. it just means nobody from there has reported any speeds yet.

Thanks for the info, im happy with the results that the towers showed on the EVDO map. Ill wait for you to get back with me for the results from my address. But in the mean time if anyone would like to reccommend me a good router that i can plug the air card into that would be great, maybe even an antena too. I like the 3g store web site so i will buy here Very Happy
