|
|
So I'm having two problems. My CTR350 just quit working (kind of):
My UM150 (with altell) is working fine.
My CTR350 is able to connect to LAN fine with my other systems.
BUT when I put my UM150 in my CTR350 I observe the following:
For roughly 5 seconds after the UM150 connects to Altell I am able to ping internet servers. After that it looks like the CTR350 locks up, the wireless network goes down and it quits communicating on the LAN port.
I'm also observing the cradlepoint.com site is down?
Anyone have any ideas whats up? Not sure if there is some kind of correlation here or not but I'm rather bugged by it and not sure what to make of the problem.
Note everything WAS working fine today (and for the last three months) and we didn't have anything happen unusual today either. |

FOUND THE SOLUTION:
1) Unplug your USB/Wireless card from the cradlepoint router
2) Power on your router
3) Log into your router
4) Go to Tools > Firmware
5) Uncheck "Automatically Check Online for Latest Firmware Version"
6) Save the change and restart the router
7) Plug your USB/Wireless card back in
Enjoy!
The problem is with some (or all firmware) the "Automatically Check Online for Latest Firmware Version" feature is causing the routers to crash (or hang on some kind of infinite loop) while the cradlepoint website is down. So lesson learned, don't allow automatic firmware checks! |

|
|
I see that the site is back up that allows the router to "phone home" now. I would like to know if anyone happened to be running earlier versions of firmware that may have allowed this to happen.
If you would, could everyone that has been affected by this bug comment on what router model they were using along with the version of firmware that was running on their router.
We will compile this information and then use it when speaking to CradlePoint Engineering. _________________ - Victor |

I'd like to see a discussion of the advantages/disadvantages of the "phone home" feature. Why not just turn it off? and leave it off? _________________ WVBill |

It really isn't a "phone home", but rather a "check for update" feature. Until we do more testing, seems like it may be best to disable the "check for update" and just keep an eye on EVDOforums for any firmware announcements.
We may do some additional testing to see if any other CradlePoint products are affected.... _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

My new one is now working OK here at work. I've turned off the Auto update.
My router is running V2.1 Should I upgrade to the version send on the CD with the router, or the online version 2.2.1 from Cradlepoint? |
