|
|
I am on my company's corporate account with Verizon and have a USB760 on the way (our rep has it on order for me). I see that there is a fix for the Cradlepoint MBR1000 and the site says if I order the USB760 through this site along with the router, it will come with that fix installed. Question is, if I order just the router (since USB760 already being provided to me), will it come with the fix to support the USB760 or not? Is the fix part of version 1.4 firmware or a separate patch of some type? Is there any reason I would need or want v 1.4 Firmware if I am going to be using a USB760 (it seems to fix compatibility issues with some other network's cards according to write up on this site).
Also, last question... I'm considering purchasing an antennae as well. I understand from your review that the MBR1000 does not have an externa antennae jack, but the 760 does, so just want to confirm the antennae would still be effective that way. |

Your USB760 will work with the MBR1000 as long as it has been updated by the vendor or you with the firmware upgrade that will very soon be made available by Cradlepoint on Cradlepoint's website. Again, all you will need is the firmware update. The firmware update is easy for most anyone to upload.
The MBR 1000 has 3 antenna's that are used for wifi reception.
Your USB760 has an antenna port that you can plug an an external antenna into to gleen better reception from the cell tower.

Just got my USB760 tonight...went from 118 kb/s down and 31 kb/s up (AT&T tethered cell phone) to 1,300 kb/s down and 400 kb/s up with the USB760 from Verizon...
I get full signal (5 bars of BroadbandAccess RevA) and I'm waaaay out in the boonies here. Simple to set up, simple to use...I like it.
EVDO is AWESOME (Yes, I'm new and I'm a happy customer) |

Novatel rates this modem as follows:
• Transmit: max 650mA
Isn't this high for 1 USB Port?? I bought the USB Y connector from the 3G Store after seeing this. |

No, no longer true. | Thanks for the feed back. Do you know if the USB760 is compatible with the KR-2 router? Is there a better choice than the USB760?

Thanks for the info.
The chart says the USB Pantech VM 175 is compatible with the KR-2. Can you give me the link to the Cradle Point, or tell me if the Pantech VM 175 is compatible with it?

this site has router compatibility info: http://www.EVDOinfo.com/routers
you should read this article to understand which modem is best for use with cradlepoint routers: http://bit.ly/3cGEYV |
