I'm wondering if anyone has tried to use the cradlepoint router or any other router with an Alltel Samsung Hue cell phone tethered as modem.

Has anyone had success with it?

Thanks. I appreciate it.

Guess I'll just have to buy the router and give it a shot.
Worse come to worse I'll just have to return it within the 14 days to get a refund but I hope I can get it to work.

I'll post with my results when I can for others who may be curious.

Now to see if this post will even go through. Rolling Eyes

Hi Nifty,

Sorry no one has gotten back to you - with so many phones on the market, it's hard to find test results for every single one!

We have found that there are definitely a good number of phones that work great with the CP routers even if they're not officially supported by CP. So, it's entirely possible that your phone COULD work with one. I will be crossing my fingers and looking forward to your test results!

Oh well...

Sad

I did try searching the forum before posting. Couldn't find anything mentioned about the Alltel Hue samsung phone being used with the router so I finally decided to post.
Guess no one has tried it.
I'm thinking of ordering the CTR350 to give it a try myself.
Worse thing can happen is I'll have to return it within the 14 days return policy to 3gstore if it won't cooperate.
Wish me luck...at least. Wink

Okay,
my test results are in. Unfortunately, it did not work with my cell phone as a modem. I didn't get the green light.
What I have decided to do is go ahead and order the Huawei Evdo card at the despicable monthly service charge of $60.00. Yes, I think that price is ridiculously high and I have been EXTREMELY to the maximum hesitant to pay that amount but I really need the ability to route my internet to more than one computer. We have online selling, online homeschool curriculum, some other internet classes, promoting, blogging, emailing. We are in major need of routing ability and higher speed than what we are getting with our cell phone as a modem functionality. We've been dealing with it because the bill is $25. and not $60. a month and the speed is not too bad but could be faster. Okay the speed difference between using the cell phone as modem is definitely not as fast as using a regular evdo card but it has been much better than the lousy dial up we've been dealing with before.

Anyway, just wanted to update this thread on my results. I'll post my results later on about my routing with the evdo card. Need this to work big time!

Later folks,

Maribell

Hi again,

Thanks for the update. Sorry it didn't work out - frustrating!! Sad

Before you buy a data card, you should make sure it will be compatible with your router since you already own that. You can check the compatibility list at http://evdoinfo.com/routers - and if you have any questions, let us know!
