The Blackberry Storm will finally become available NEXT WEEK (11/17) and 3GStore is now taking your pre-orders!

Even better, if you are a NEW Verizon customer, you can get $50 off Verizon's price for the phone by pre-ordering with 3Gstore! The price is not announced yet, but 3Gstore will be extending a $50 discount to NEW Verizon customers who place an order for the Blackberry Storm this week.

Please note that this offer is ONLY for new customers signing up for a 2-year contract. If you're an existing Verizon customer and want to upgrade to the Storm, we can absolutely reserve one for you at the regular retail price.

The "answer to the iPhone" includes features like expandable memory (it comes with 8GB of storage but can be expanded to 16GB), touch screen with portrait and landscape views, full HTML browser, VZNavigator compatibility and tons more.

While not substantiated (yet), there are rumors that the release date has been pushed back to November 23rd and that the price will be $249 less a $50 mail-in rebate.

This would mean that the price for NEW Verizon customers pre-ordering with 3Gstore will be just $149 after rebate!!!

I saw the advertisment on the Storm, very nice...I purchased the 727 USB modem and the Verizon 2 year contract from 3G, can I buy the Storm and use it instead of the 727 for internet connectivity?

Thanks

Ron W.

Hi Ron,

Since the USB727 is a data device and you're on a data contract, you would not be able to just switch your service over to a Blackberry. If you wanted to use a Storm instead of your data card, you'll have to cancel that service and then sign up for a new line of service on the Blackberry.

Actually, you can login to your Verizon account online or call them and switch your existing account to a data/voice plan... That way you don't have to pay an ETF, etc.

Data cards act just like cell phones in the verizon system, and are already provisioned with a phone number.. So instead of paying $59 for the data plan, you would switch to a BB data/voice plan, they start at $99 I think...

see http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/store/controller?item=planFirst&action=viewPlanList&sortOption=priceSort&typeId=4&subTypeId=52&catId=934

The only thing is I don't think the storm is supported by any 3g router yet, and I don't know if it works with tethering to your laptop, etc.

Checked the VZW website last evening, and it says the Storm supports tehtering as a modem, as well as Bluetooth. Going to go to a dealer and look at one, as my I730 is getting a bit long of tooth, though it still performs pretty well. Not reliable as a tethered modem, however.
