|
|
While snooping around the Verizon files, I found it was really easy to change the Verizon menu text to say Sprint instead. It's really pointless, since the menu still doesn't work, but I thought I'd share it with everyone in case you had a few minutes to kill and wanted it to say Sprint instead.
Here's what mine looks like:
First, navigate to this folder:
/System/Library/CoreServices/Menu Extras
Control-click or right-click on "Verizon.menu" and select Show Package contents. Open Contents folder and then the Resources folder. There's a file called "AboutBox.nib", which, of course, is the About box. You'll need the Apple Developer tools installed to edit the file. Once you open it, you can change the text and replace the graphic. To change out the Logo, I just modified the "vzw_logo_150x67_trans.tif" file in the same folder, replacing the verizon logo with the sprint logo from their home page.
To change the menu text, open up the "English.lproj" folder and open the "Localizable.strings" file inside. I just used TextEdit, which worked just fine. Inside that file, just replace "Verizon" with "Sprint" throughout the file and save it.
You'll need to log out and back in for the changes to show up.
There's also a little popup window that shows up when you take the card out with it still powered up. Here's the path to that file:
| Code: | | /System/Library/Extensions/IOSerialFamily.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleVerizonSupport.kext/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/Localizable.strings |
You'll need to use a text editor as "sudo" to modify that file, or what I did was copy it to the desktop, edit it, and then copy it back to it's original location. You'll be asked to enter in your password, but it'll then overwrite the file.[/code] |
