How does one determine what frequency 1.9 Ghz or 800Mhz that a local tower is using for rev A?

I had a Tech come to home after I filed an unhappy survey with Verizon. He was the one that informed me what everything was run on in the area.

You should be able to call them up and find someone that should be able to tell you the frequency in your area. It may take a while though just be patient. There phone support is like a giant maze often leaving you back where you just came from.

So far I have found that I know more about Verizon, EVDO, and their towers than they do. I want to know if there is anything in Field test I am missing to indicate what any tower I am trying to work with is running 1.9Ghz or 800Mhz.

The only Verizon tech that was even willing to discuss this with me didn't have a clue what he was talking about. These are 9 out of 10 at least trained puppets.

If your particular device diagnostic screen tells you the channel number you can determine whether it is 800 MHz or PCS. This has been covered in another thread.

I am currently running on channel 466.

If PCS(1900mHz) uses blocks or multiples of 25, and 800mHz uses blocks or multiples of 30, then I am confused.

because I am in National access -vs- Rev A I must currently be hitting a 800mHz partner tower.

466 is a CDMA 800MHz Cellular channel. If you check out the graphs I linked to in the thread that n6gn linked to, you can see primary channel listings for each band.

This isn't necessarily the tower I hit on a regular basis as I am aiming at two that are lined up with each other on two different Parabols about 3 miles apart form each other. The other is inconsistent as I can hit it without any external antenna gear on some days and can barely hit it at all on others with my other parabol, but when I do, I get up to 1.1Mbs downloads with 88-130 ms pings to Yahoo. I am hitting the tower above with my secondary 2400 Mhz Conifer Parabol and a Wilson dual band amp.

Is it possible to hit an 800Mhz tower consistently with 2400mHz gear?

Verizon runs Evdo on 800Mhz also. My area uses 800Mhz for both voice and evdo data. Do you get any type of Rev A signal when you lock in HDR mode?

BTW how do you read that chart? I came across it on another site and wasn't sure exactly what the different colors meant.

See this thread. It has the antenna you want on the 800Mhz frequency.

!!! That's not a desirable situation! (:>)
It's hard to say how bad the 2400 MHz feed is on 850 MHz but my guess is "pretty bad".
The reflector itself should be fine in fact it appears to me that the two grid antennas Hyperlink sells for 850 and PCS use the same reflector but different feeds. I'd suggest you change it, you'll probably see 15 dB improvement!

This is the tower I hit on the other Parabol:

Channel 630 isn't on either graph you showed me but I am assuming it is 1900?

As you can see I am not getting any bars right now. Without changing my aim at all with this parabol I get -93db some nights with terrific throughput.

I don't think you scrolled over far enough in the 800Mhz spectrum chart. Channel 630 is listed in purple and since mine is listed in the same section under purple I'm going to assume that channel is in the 800Mhz spectrum.

You're not even seeing any signal! The channel number must be left over from something earlier.

PCS channel numbers are divisible by 25 with no remainder. 630 is not one of them. From the link:

"CDMA carriers are 1.25MHz wide but in the arrangement above are allotted 1.23Mhz (or 41 channels) each. The CDMA carrier is numbered based on the center channel of the carrier, using the AMPS channel numbering. The display above shows how a CDMA system can be overlaid on the existing 800MHz bands. This use starts with the Primary CDMA channel, 283 or 384, and works outward until enough carriers have been added to handle the desired level of CDMA traffic. Channels 691 and 777 are the Secondary CDMA channel."

It's the 7th CDMA channel...
630 = 384 + (6 x 41)

Widget,

I get a good signal some nights with one of my 2400mHz parabols. Maybe it is because I am indeed on 800Mhz that I am having so much trouble. Hopefully someone can tell me if channel 630 is on 800 or 1900 cause I seem to have a little trouble reading the graph(s).
