I use a KR1 router to connect my PS3 and it works great.. the wifi kinda sucks but the wired connection is great!! Some time it's patchy during heavy traffic times.. but generally it works awesome.

The fist thing you need to know is what is you signal strength? I seen it be as high as -80 and as low as -58,depending on that to connect you'll need to use a crossover cable(I have seen a regular lan cable work)
connected from your computer to Xbox.Be sure to set up a network( I uesd the network wizzard) ,open tools and check NDIS,close the manager
and reboot, you should see a connection icon in lower right corner, plug in the cable and then turn on Xbox it should find that connection and connect to Xbox Live if not you might have to make some changes to network settings.Be prepared for some LAG it comes and goes, you can help it by adding an external antenna and or an amp.Good luck.
