Is there a way to send/receive text messages? Not that I'd want to; apparently they are ten cents each. I was having trouble logging in to the Sprint website to view my account, and tried the "forgot my password" option. Apparently this sends you a text message. Haven't a clue how to view it, but my bill has the extra dime on it for a text message. BTW, I was able to finally log on the site - seems they were having problems.

I'm not going to subject myself to customer service hell over $0.10, but you't think if there was no way to read text messages they would just have it disabled.

On a similar note, does anybody know how voicemail works on Sprint? I'm sure I could access it by calling my number from any phone, but what charges, if any, are involved? If it would cost me nothing, it would be cool to have an extra number with voicemail, but not if they charge me $0.20/minute for calls to it (either people leaving messages or me retrieving them).

Sprint's website itself has a SMS send box as part of the page that would be the only way to send an SMS via the card. But the card itself can't SMS like a phone does.

Nor can the card do voice...

However, on my last bill I got charged for a text message...they removed it. I don't care about the 10 cents ... I was just worried it was the start of a trend.

Both the Sierra AirCard 580 and Novatel V620 on Verizon support text messages, and Sprint offers these SME cards, so the cards do have the text messaging options, either Sprint has text messaging disabled in the firmware of the connection card OR the Sprint software doesn't support text messaging.

I expect that it would be easy for Sprint to add text messaging to the connection cards, HOWEVER, I don't think it really is that useful. Most people use text messanging on their phones and it is more convenient to receive text messages that way.

The carriers should allow a way to block this, since they bill us for something we didn't ask for AND cannot use.

Sprint did both to disable SMS and the voice portion of these cards...
