|
|
I just got the Sprint EVDO Service a few days ago and found out that Sprint uses a proxy to compress all images. Besides setting up my own proxy server, does anyone know of a Sprint Proxy server or setting to bypass the compression?
I did some research and found that Sprint's proxy compresses both the HTML and Images, and when you press "CTL+F5", some imbedded javascript prompts the browser to load the original HTML and Images.
From this page...
http://groups.google.com/group/comp.lang.javascript/browse_thread/thread/2377c84c53e8183b/de71e15defce45d2?%20%3E%20q=bmi_SafeAddOnload&rnum=2&hl=en
...I found how to get the browser to load the original, uncompressed image, but i couldn't find out what HTML to send to get the complete, uncompressed page. Any ideas?
Thanks! |

I think shift-f5 reloads the whole page.
Also... I've found that if you open the browser window without the card installed (maybe even with it installed but disconnected, but not sure because I use NDIS mode) and then insert the card the browser will work normally. I rarely bother doing that tho... on occasions where I want to see the full-resolution images I just do a ctrl-f5 or shift-f5. |

that causes you to use the cache of your browser. _________________ EVDO :: EVDO News :: EVDO Antennas :: Buy Verizon :: Buy Sprint :: EVDO Amplifier |

I guess that makes sense... but in any case it does seem to be disabling the compression proxy, because if I then visit a site I never have before, it comes up normally in full resolution, and you don't get the popup on how to reload the images when you mouseover them.
I'm trying to remember if there is an option somewhere to disable it in the Sprint Connection Manager...::looking::... YES!
Go to Menu>Settings>Optimization, then uncheck "enable optimization" (don't forget to click "Apply" and "OK" after). This will disable image compression.
Cool... I'm glad someone asked - prompted me too look for it and now I know how to turn it on and off whenever I want. |
