Hello,
I've been using a Sierra 595U card for quite some time on the verizon network. It seems to work great, and has the built in battery, which, if i've read correctly means that i dont need to plug it in to two USB ports for maximum speed.

I'm currently running OSX 10.5 on a macbook pro with an express slot, so i was thinking about upgrading to the KPC680, considering i just accidently kicked my laptop off my bed in my sleep, thus breaking my 595U.

The 595U seemed to be a pretty fast card, however, i want to make sure the new card that i purchase is just as fast, if not faster. Looking at reviews, i've seen nothing noting that the express slot cards are faster than the USB cards, is this correct? I noticed the KPC680 has two slots for antenna boosters, as opposed to the normal one, which makes me think this may be a better card.

Could someone suggest to me which card they think i should get? I'm a touring musician that is on the road 9 months out of the year, all over the united states. I would like to have a card that DOESNT require me plugging a USB-Y cable in to TWO seperate USB slots to get the best speed, as my macbook pro only has two slots, and i already use one for another device. I dont mind using Express slot or USB, as long as its the best possible speed, reception, etc.

Also, is it possible to just upgrade devices without changing my plan at all? I currently have the unlimited data plan, however a friend just got a card and the no longer offer that (only 5gb a month now.) I want to make sure that i do not lose my current unlimited plan.

Thanks!
Daniel

First, I would suggest you read this article: EVDO ExpressCard, USB, PC Card: Which is faster?

Between the two current ExpressCards for Verizon...

Choose the KPC680 if you travel a lot in fringe areas. As the KPC680 allows you to connect two external antennas.

Choose the V740 If you are looking for OS X Built-In support & don't want to run the VZAccess Manager software. 3Gstore will even activate the device before shipping so that you don't have to even install VZAccess for activating the modem Smile

To purchase a card without extending your contract, you would need to purchase an aircard at full retail price.
