What is Quick2Net?

When running VZAccess, you should click on the BroadbandAccess / NationalAccess option, since that will connect you at the fastest possible speeds. Did you notice, on the default installation, there is another option called Quick2Net (14.4kpbs)

DON'T EVER CLICK ON IT. First of all, when you are in NationalAccess you will get 50K - 100K speeds, when you are in BroadbandAccess, you will get 400K - 700K speeds. Clicking Quick2Net, gets you 14.4K speeds, pretty slow. ALSO, this is not part of your unlimited access plan. So, when you connect at this slower speed, you are ALSO BILLED FOR IT, on top of your unlimited plan. So, we recommend that you DO NOT use it, UNLESS, you are in the middle of nowhere and you do not have any Broadband/NationalAccess, and it is very important that you connect to send/receive some data - just understand, that you ll be billed per minute for this charge.

That is crazy. This would be the old 2G wireless web by Sprint terms. Why would VZW put that feature there?

At .40¢ a minute at 14.4, I call that almost robbery.

So, remove the option and don't click on it.

To remove it, go into your network connections (via control panel or from the start menu) and delete the connection. It will not show up in the VZ Access Manager list anymore.

WOA!

Either there are some people high up at Verizon watching these forums, OR there is an interesting coincidence going on here.

It looks like Verizon Changed their $79.99 plan so that Quick2Net is no longer billed at $.69/minute, but included. So, for those that accidently click on Quick2Net, there will be no more unexpected billing surprises.

For those on the $79.99 plan, next time you call Verizon, you can confirm that you are on these plans too, they are called:

National Access and BroadbandAccess Unlimited $79.99 1Y 0505

or

National Access and BroadbandAccess Unlimited $79.99 2Y 0505

There really isn't a reason to call and change your code, if you remove the Quick2Net option OR never click on it.

Where did you see the news about Quick2Net? Would like to read it and confirm it myself before calling it to the attention of others within our company.
