I have had Verizon broadband for about 6 months now and it has been reliable. About 2 weeks ago things slowed down. I ran a few speed tests (speedtest.net) and got 1200 ms ping times, and 100k downloads speeds. When the service was working well I had 800-1000k download speeds. I have been using windows dial up manager to connect so I tried the access manager to see it things would be any different. It wanted to update and consequently update my UM 150. I did the updates, but things did not get better. I called tech support, and they said my service had went to simple IP mode, and they needed to do something on their end to fix it. They said it would be fixed in a few hours. Sure enough the next morning things were better. My pings dropped to 200 -500 ms and speeds were back to 800k. It is working decent, but there seems to be a lot more lag than before. I am not sure, but I thought my ping times use to be in the 100ms range. I have not tried taking my modem on the road to see it the ping times get better, but I was curious if anyone else was getting higher than usual ping times, and what a typical ping time is when using evdo and the um150.

I too have noticed higher pings than usual latly...I use sprint service and a novatel u720....not sure why but I think it may be a nationwide thing...some updates to towers are what I have heard is the problem....my normal ping times are usually anywhere from 95 to 175....latly they have been anywhere from 175 to 300 or more....hopefully it all gets cleared up soon !!!
